Does Facebook Advertising Really Work?
Just as so many advertising providers are flocking to Facebook, many businessmen are starting to look deeply into it. Skeptic businessmen are trying to uncover if advertising on Facebook really works or it is just another fad of the day where people get to crowd over it and then little by little they will lose interest after the climax has passed. Are people really clicking into what they see on Facebook? Or if they are clicking, are they buying what is advertised?
Why do businesses advertise on Facebook?
This is quite observable, the heavy influx of ads on Facebook. It’s mostly because of the heavy traffic Facebook is receiving, with about 108 million members are logging in every month and still counting. This had advertisers; eyes fixed on the Facebook potential. Heavy traffic means more exposure. The more the exposure means the more chances to get patronized which subsequently increase profit. A certain study on advertizing done two decades ago stated that when a person always sees an ad for a lenth of at least 5 seconds , whether he is consciously or unconsciously watching it, is prone to buy the product in that ad. This conclusion leads many businessmen to try to advertise on Facebook. Looking at the users who open their pages and stay on it for at least half an hour is a big chance to get attention. There are two main reasons why ad providers love to advertise in Facebook.
• They are able target the right niche. Facebook provides the essential details that an ad provider needs. As the users write their location, sex, age, workplace, education and marital status, ad providers are able to categorize and zero-in their clients. Exposing themselves only to the right target is making a move to increase their chances of reaping their profits. It is what they call quality advertising.
• Just to get exposed. Exposure in Facebook is not like the direct selling that the profit is immediately seen. It is about building rapport. Like most of the things that are built on solid foundation, exposing your ad in Facebook takes time. But the profits will hit you when the time comes your ad gets clicked.
Does it really work?
Definitely! A survey based on Inside the Facebook, ad providers stated that they were able to get their revenue in one year in a whopping 177%. That is a big break! This success is relative, though. Most of the surveyed individuals are from age 18-34 years old. They clearly stated that the ads they take notice about are the entertainment category like music and movies. Fashion is also, is most likely to get their attention. When a friend is using the product on the ad and that ad is flashed on their page, the Facebook user would definitely click on that ad. Other than that, the survey is not so sure if the ad will push through the Facebook user’s minds.
Facebook is a great place to advertise. But do not expect a 100% success. The return of investments still relies on the way you make you slogans, pictures and the quality of your products. Facebook can provide you with the things you might need as you choose your target market. But, it cannot ensure 100% success in your advertising.
